We work with early-stage founders with bold ideas, turning them into scalable, sustainable ventures addressing real-world challenges across Africa and Asia.
Social Impact Africa began in November 2020 as a Future Leaders program in Troyville, Johannesburg, crowd-funded by my cousin, Kaushik Kalita, who lives in the United States. We started with a small group of young people from townships who simply wanted a different life and to solve the problems around them.
We invited Timothy Maurice, a four-time bestselling author and podcaster in behavioural psychology and applied neuroscience, to speak at the programme. The participants loved him, and he gifted each of them a copy of his latest book.
What began as a small grassroots initiative around self-leadership and social change slowly grew into a platform supporting people with meaningful ideas and community-driven change. At its heart was a simple belief: the best solutions often come from people living closest to the challenges themselves — we simply help bring those ideas to life.

Jeremy Fritzhand is CEO at VentureStudio, Ahmedabad University, and Advisor at Social Impact Africa,
with over 15 years of experience building startup ecosystems across incubation, founder support,
social enterprise, and cross-sector collaboration. In 2015, Jeremy established Studio Bagru, an award-winning
grassroots initiative based in Bagru, Rajasthan, now globally recognised for preserving the traditional art
of hand block printing. Studio Bagru played an important role in reviving interest in the region’s traditional
printing and craftsmanship, helping local artisans gain recognition across India and beyond.
His work spans entrepreneurial acceleration, university innovation, cultural preservation, and
international trade—focused on building systems that help founders, institutions, and communities move
from idea to durable outcomes. He believes ecosystems do not emerge on their own; they must be
intentionally built through strong programs, relationships, partnerships, and operating structures.
Co-Founders of Clothes to Good
They are the founders of Clothes to Good, a South African social enterprise that transforms textile waste into opportunities for people and the planet.
Their work focuses on recycling and upcycling clothing to create jobs, support micro-enterprises, and empower people with disabilities and vulnerable communities, partnering with organizations such as Levi’s and H&M. Together, they have built an inclusive, circular ecosystem where waste becomes a tool for social impact, bridging environmental sustainability with poverty alleviation.
